Leading the way in Renewable Energy
In 2012, Haviland took another giant step in promoting a positive environmental footprint with the construction of our in-house renewable energy facility. The HPP Energy facility consists of an anaerobic digester, which primarily utilizes food waste, and three direct-drive wind turbines. At the time of construction, our turbine order was the largest private usage wind project in the United States.
The goal was to produce 75 to 80% of the current annual electrical usage at HPP, and that goal was met by 2014.
